Let Them Eat Cake

About the Project

  • The architecture of Versailles, rococo fashions, and the queen herself Marie Antoinette inspire this look.
  • I constructed a pair of pocket hoops for this look which are worn underneath the skirt to give volume and width.
  • The suns are constructed using muslin and polyfill, then hand-beaded and embroidered and sewn onto the skirt. This is made to emulate the golden sun details found in Versailles.

Materials: Satin, stretch taffeta, pleated satin, muslin, polyfill, glass beads
